PVD GIVES PEACE A TRANCE
Pigs whizzed overhead when we heard PVD sing on his new LP, 'Reflections'. Here's his track-by-track guide.

:: Like A Friend

"When I toured India, I was devastated by the poverty I saw. This isn't preaching. It's just asking people to think."

:: Buenaventura

"I made music for a Mexican movie called 'La Mano Del Zurdo', and a lot of the action happens in a village called Buenaventura. It's a delicate movie that shows the psychological problems that a kid goes through."

:: Connected

"The music to [my] Motorola ad. The director Nick Owen is one of the most talented around. Look out for the Marco V mix."

:: Nothing But You

"I got sent this piece of music that wasn't quite right for my taste but featured this amazing intense vocal sample. So I took it and made a song for myself. The reaction I got was huge. The lyrics are Norwegian!"

:: Spellbound

"This is one of the tracks I did with Jan Johnston. Jan and I are working quite closely together and I'm going to be producing her solo album after I've finished my own," says Paul.

:: That's Life

"That is a track with my vocal. It's about those days where you get up in the morning and you feel miserable."

:: Home

"Jan came out with this amazing lyric: 'That's why I'm so lonely in the crowd and all I think about is coming home to you'."

:: Animacion [not included in the final album release]

"Another track from Buenaventura. It's banging and features this weird kind of monk chorus in the background."

:: Avid City [not included in the final album release]

"There's an acid line in there, so I called it 'Acid City'. Then a guy in my office made a typing mistake - 'v' is right next to 'c' on the keyboard - so it became 'Avid City'."

:: Crush (Collaboration with Second Sun)

"It's about a stalker. People always think it's from personal experience but it's not."

:: Knowledge (Collaboration with DJ Tomekk)

"Tomekk is the biggest hip-hop producer in Germany. It's not just weird German shit, it's really cool, very international hip-hop."

:: Never Forget

"When I first saw 'Schindler's List' I was really upset. It's slow and hip-hoppy, and quite melancholy, but it has a hint of hope on it. It'll probably be the last track on the album."
