Drug Culture, Party People and Music
While in London during his mission to complete his first ’Masterpiece’,
Tommy shuts out the world around him. When tragedy strikes with the
freak drug overdose death of his younger sister Emma, Tommy abandons his
opera to reconnect with those he loves, and begins a soul searching
quest to discover his true calling.
Tommy’s journey leads him into the depths of Melbourne nightlife and
eventually to a famed underground nightclub known for cutting edge dance
music.
The story intercuts between Tommy’s ’music of life’ sampling journey and
the self-destructive path of his estranged girlfriend Alysse. While Tommy
has always resented the drug culture of the dance scene, it is here that
his music begins to flourish. And when club owner Hector Lee invites Tommy
to compose a ’masterpiece’ for a generation of party-goers, Tommy begins
to realize that maybe his destiny be found in this unlikely arena.
But when Hector lures Alysse into a fatal choice of drugs over love,
Tommy must also choose whether to walk away from this dream or to
transcend tragedy by composing a modern day opera that could change the
lives of his audience forever.
